Mobile Water Treatment: Containerized Units, 90-Day Build

Mobile water treatment, built in 90 days and shipped anywhere

Mobile water treatment solves the problem that does not justify a permanent plant. A unit fails. A shutdown runs long. A site needs capacity for two years, not twenty. A containerized system covers all three without a capital project.

What is mobile water treatment?

Mobile water treatment is a complete treatment train built inside an ISO container or on a trailer. It is delivered to site, connected to power and piping, and started up in days rather than months. Nothing is built in place, so there is no civil works program and no permanent footprint.

JINGYU builds these units to order in China against your actual water analysis. Delivery is 90 days from confirmed scope, plus 30 to 45 days of sea freight to most ports.

The trade-off is real. You give up some flexibility in layout and some ceiling on capacity. You gain speed, a fixed price, and the option to hand the unit back when the need ends.

Why companies choose a containerized unit

Speed against a deadline

A conventional plant runs 18 to 24 months from award to water. A containerized unit is 90 days to the port. When a deadline is fixed, that difference decides the project.

No capital project

No foundations, no buildings, no long construction schedule on your site. The unit arrives complete and connects to power, feed, and discharge.

It can leave again

Capacity that matches a two-year contract does not have to be owned forever. Lease terms run from a few weeks to seven years. The unit goes back when the need is over.

Working to a fixed deadline? Send the flow and the date. We will tell you straight away whether 90 days plus freight makes it.

When a mobile unit is the right answer

Six situations account for most of the mobile water treatment work we do.

Emergency cover

A membrane rack fails, feed water shifts, a condenser leaks, or a boiler goes off spec. A mobile unit keeps production running while the fixed plant is repaired. That is almost always cheaper than the lost output.

Planned maintenance and revamps

Treated water has to keep flowing while the permanent plant is down for an overhaul or an upgrade. A temporary unit removes the scheduling conflict.

Extra capacity

Production increases faster than the water plant does. Containerized capacity is reversible. That makes it easier to justify than expanding a fixed plant for demand you are not sure will hold.

Aging or unreliable equipment

When an old plant costs more in maintenance than it returns in uptime, a mobile unit covers the gap. The replacement can then be decided, designed, and built without pressure.

Tighter discharge or reuse targets

New limits often need one more treatment stage, not a whole new plant. A containerized polishing unit adds that stage in place.

Pilots and process validation

A containerized pilot proves the process on the real feed, on your site, under your operating conditions. That comes before any full-scale design on a difficult water.

JINGYU Mobile water treatment
Units ship as standard ISO containers. Any flatbed and any port crane can handle them, so no special transport is required.

What goes inside

The container is a shell. What matters is the process inside it. That is selected from your water analysis, not from a catalog page.

TechnologyTypical duty
UltrafiltrationSolids and colloid removal ahead of membranes, surface water and effluent polishing
Reverse osmosisDesalination, process water production, reuse of treated effluent
High-recovery and disc-tube ROLandfill leachate, mine water, and other high-fouling streams
NanofiltrationHardness and sulfate removal, salt separation ahead of crystallization
Softening and ion exchangeBoiler feed makeup, hardness control before RO
Disc and media filtrationFront-end protection for pumps and membranes
Degassing and deaerationCarbon dioxide and oxygen removal for boiler and polishing loops
Clarification and dosingCoagulation, flocculation, pH and antiscalant control

Units combine several of these in series. Some duties are too large or too hot for a container, such as evaporation and crystallization for zero liquid discharge. We build that equipment as modular skids instead. They ship in open-top or flat-rack containers and bolt together on site.

How delivery actually works

Everything ships from China. That sounds like a disadvantage until you look at the freight bill. Thousands of containers leave Chinese ports every day, so ocean freight on a standard ISO box is both cheap and predictable.

Ways to contract

Short-term rental

Weeks to months, for outages, turnarounds, and emergencies. Includes commissioning, consumables, and remote support.

Multi-year lease

One to seven years, as an alternative to buying a fixed plant. Process support, spares, chemicals, maintenance, and emergency response are all part of the contract.

Purchase

Buy the unit outright, with training and an optional service agreement. This suits sites that need the capacity permanently but not the construction program.

JINGYU has delivered more than 140 water treatment projects. We operate 18 zero liquid discharge plants under long-term contracts, with an in-house team of over 650 operators. We are not just supplying a box. We run this equipment ourselves, every day, so our design assumptions match what happens in operation.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can a mobile water treatment unit be delivered?

Ninety days from confirmed scope to the day the unit leaves our factory, plus 30 to 45 days of sea freight to most ports. Every unit is built to your water analysis rather than pulled from stock. It is wet tested at the factory before it ships.

Is a containerized plant as capable as a fixed one?

For the process steps that fit inside a container, yes. Ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, softening, and disc filtration perform the same in a container as in a building. The limit is physical. Very large flows and heavy evaporation trains need more space, so those are built as modular skids instead.

Can we rent instead of buy?

Yes. Contracts run from short-term cover during an outage up to leases of one to seven years. A lease includes process support, consumables and spares, chemicals, scheduled maintenance, and emergency response.

What do we need to have ready on site?

A level pad, power, a feed connection, a discharge or reuse point, and access for a truck and crane. We confirm all of it during design and send commissioning engineers to start the unit up.

Which waters can these units handle?

Process water and boiler feed makeup, cooling tower blowdown, landfill leachate, mine water, and moderately saline effluent. For very high salinity or zero liquid discharge, we combine containerized pretreatment with modular evaporation and crystallization skids.

Do you support the unit after it arrives?

Yes. JINGYU operates 18 zero liquid discharge plants of its own with more than 650 operators. Support is normal work for us, not an add-on. Remote monitoring, spares supply, and on-site service are all available.

Tell us the water and the deadline

Send a water analysis, the flow you need, and the date it has to run. An engineer reads it, not a mailbox, and you get a configuration and a delivered price back.

A partial analysis is enough to start. Everything you send is treated as confidential.
