JINGYU Environmental Engineering

Industrial Wastewater Treatment Company Since 2009 | JINGYU

An industrial wastewater treatment company built around what happens after treatment

Shanghai Jingyu Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd. is an industrial wastewater treatment company that has worked since 2009 at the hardest end of the water business: high-salinity streams, landfill leachate, and the brine that other processes leave behind. We design, build, and operate the systems that turn those streams into reusable water and salable industrial salt.

140+ Water treatment projects delivered Including 45 ZLD projects
18 ZLD plants under long-term operation BOO, BOT, TOT and contract O&M
160+ Patents and proprietary technologies 30+ invention patents
1,200+ Employees 200+ technical professionals

An industrial wastewater treatment company since 2009

JINGYU is headquartered in Shanghai and was founded in 2009 with registered capital of RMB 175 million.

The group operates through 7 wholly owned subsidiaries, 8 controlled entities, and 6 branch offices, with regional presence in Beijing, Ordos, Xi'an, Baoji, Panzhihua, Huaibei, Nantong, Nanjing, and Xinjiang. In FY 2025 the group reported approximately USD 170 million in revenue and USD 160 million in total assets.

Our work concentrates on two things that most water companies treat as separate: zero liquid discharge for complex industrial streams, and the recovery of that discharge as a product. In 2025 we established our International Business Division to bring that capability to clients outside China.

What we do

We cover the full chain, from bench-scale process development through construction, commissioning, and fifteen-year operating contracts. Clients engage us for a single piece of that chain or for all of it.

Process and design

Water quality analysis, pilot testing, process package development, and detailed engineering design.

Equipment and delivery

Core process equipment supply, system integration, EP and EPC delivery, construction, and commissioning.

Operation

Long-term O&M with performance-aligned KPIs, delivered by an in-house team of more than 650 operators.

Investment models

BOO, BOT, TOT and ROT structures for owners who prefer to buy treated water rather than build a plant.

How we got here

JINGYU did not start in zero liquid discharge. Each capability we sell today came out of a problem a client could not solve, and the sequence explains why the company looks the way it does.

2009 to 2014: leachate and photovoltaic water

2009

Shanghai Jingyu Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd. is founded in Hongkou District, Shanghai. First demonstration project completed: high-recovery water reuse for a photovoltaic manufacturer.

2010

Our photovoltaic wastewater process is adopted across the sector and recognized as a reference technology.

2011

Landfill leachate treatment technology developed in-house, addressing a treatment gap the Chinese market had no domestic answer for.

2012

The leachate concentrate problem is solved. We develop humic acid extraction from nanofiltration concentrate, and a volume reduction process for reverse osmosis concentrate.

Why it mattered: leachate plants across China were failing because high-molecular-weight organics accumulated in the membrane loop. Those organics amount to roughly 0.5% of the stream. Pulling them out as humic acid, a usable organic fertilizer, kept the systems running and turned a failure mode into a product.
2013

Zero liquid discharge applied in the photovoltaic industry. Pilot campaign completed for coal chemical high-salinity brine ZLD.

2014

First food waste leachate project delivered. Leachate treatment plants built for Shenzhen Energy, Shanghai Chengtou, Everbright Environment, Dynagreen, Beijing Enterprises, and Capital Environment.

2015 to 2020: brine, salt, and owned assets

2015

Purification, evaporation, crystallization, and selective salt separation for industrial brine reach full-scale validation. Three strategic transformation targets are set for the company.

Why it mattered: Chinese regulators had begun requiring coal chemical plants to reuse their process water. Reuse solved the water problem and created a salt problem, because the concentrated brine had nowhere to go. Recovering sodium chloride and sodium sulfate as standard-grade industrial salt was the route out, and it became the core of our business.
2016

Formal entry into the industrial brine market, giving the company two parallel lines: municipal leachate and industrial high-salinity wastewater.

2017

Strategic equity investment from Yitai Group, Tsinghua Tus-Holdings, and Hongrui Group. China's first coal chemical ZLD plant with crystallized salt recovery enters service, separating industrial salt that meets national product standards. Headquarters relocates to Baoshan District, Shanghai.

2018

Regional subsidiaries established across China. We introduce the EFO model, combining integrated design, project financing, and operating service in one contract.

2019

Yitai Hongqinghe mine water ZLD plant starts up. The Huineng coal chemical ZLD project enters production.

2020

Hongqinghe begins commercial operation as a BOO asset, our first large-scale mine water ZLD plant owned and operated in-house. First steel industry ZLD project awarded.

2021 to 2025: scale, and beyond China

2021

Entry into the petrochemical sector. Coking wastewater ZLD with crystallized salt recovery delivered, producing salt to industrial specification.

2022

Construction starts on the Baijiahaizi mine water ZLD plant, our largest by design capacity at 72,000 m³/d. Full water system ZLD awarded for the world's largest integrated BDO production base.

2023

Waste salt recovery and reuse technology reaches commercial deployment. Contract awarded for Huaneng Group's Qingyang Xinzhuang project.

2024

Recognized as a national Specialized and Sophisticated "Little Giant" enterprise. Strategic cooperation agreement signed with Huaneng Yangtze Environmental Technology. Xinjiang branch established.

2025

International Business Division established to deliver ZLD and resource recovery projects outside China.
